CNN Money announced the top 25 localities in its “Where the Jobs Are” list. Prince William County climbed from number 23 last year to number 17 on the current list with a job growth rate of 32% from 2000–2009. In addition to the job growth rate, counties had to have an unemployment rate below the national average. Also noted was Dale City’s consideration in CNN Money’s “Best Places to Live.” Dale City was acknowledged for its job growth rate of 13.13% from 2000-2009, and for its population growth during that same period.
"Skilled workers have stormed the area in recent years," reported Brian Whitley for CNNMoney.com. "Many cash in on federal defense contracts with firms like Lockheed Martin. Others staff a growing cluster of biotech companies tied to George Mason University, which this year opened a $50 million research lab."
"This announcement affirms our position as one of the leading job markets in the country," said Corey Stewart, Chairman Prince William Board of County Supervisors. "Economic development has long been a priority of the Prince William Board of County Supervisors, and we will continue to work diligently to bring quality jobs to the County."
