The Office of Community and Business Engagement is the school-to-business partnership program that aims to develop and support partnerships that strengthen and enhance quality education, and promote business and community involvement within schools.

George Mason University's expansion in Science and Technology Campus is in part built on the university's unique partnership with area businesses, including American Type Culture Collection, Micron, Lockheed Martin, and others.

NVRC provides a variety of services that support member governments' coordination of emergency preparedness planning and operations within the Northern Virginia region. The Governor’s Opportunity Fund (GOF) is designed as a “deal closing” fund to be employed at the Governor’s discretion when necessary to secure a company location or expansion in Virginia. The GOF serves as a final resource for Virginia in the face of serious competition from other states or countries.
