Airports

Washington Dulles International Airport (IAD)

Dulles Airport, located just 16.5 miles from Prince William County, offers daily non-stop service to 88 U.S. cities (11 U.S. carriers) and direct service to 42 foreign cities on 23 international airlines. In addition to commercial air service, air cargo service is offered by 23 carriers. The Dulles Airport is located in Foreign Trade Zone #137 and offers materials handling and warehousing services in 540,000 square feet of operations space.

Ronald Reagan National Airport (DCA)

National Airport, located 18 miles from Prince William County, offers non-stop service to destinations within 1,250 miles of Washington, D.C., daily non-stop flights to 74 U.S. cities, and direct service to three Canadian cities on 12 domestic airlines. General aviation services are also available.

Manassas Regional Airport (HEF)

Manassas Regional Airport is the largest general aviation airport in Virginia, accepting small, private aircraft as a "reliever" airport for Dulles and Reagan National Airports. The U.S. Customs & Border Protection also performs aircraft clearances at Manassas Regional Airport, which provides the opportunity for international flights directly to and from Prince William County. Flight instruction services, as well as leasing and rental of private aircraft are also available.

 

 

Roadways

75% of the Northern Virginia labor pool is within a 30-minute one-way commute to the center of Prince Willam County. In an area where commuters eagerly seek job opportunities to shorten commute patterns, Prince William County is an ideal location for much of the local labor pool.

Nearby Interstates:

The two major interstate highways in the Washington, DC metropolitan area run directly through Prince William County. Interstate 95 runs north-south through the east end of the county, and Interstate 66 runs east-west through the west end of the County. VA highway 234 and the Prince William Parkway provides a four-lane divided highway to connect both interstates.

Major 4-lane Highways:

Several 4-lane highways extend throughout Prince William County, inlcuding: Highway 123, Highway 213, Highway 215, Highway 234, Highway 28, Highway 55, Highway 1, Highway 15, Highway 29, Prince William Parkway.

Roadway Improvements Underway:

Since 1988, Prince William County has successfully administered a local revenue bond program designed to enhance its system of roadways. During the November 2006 election, voters approved a $300 million bond earmarked for roadway improvements including the widening of Route 1, widening of the Prince William Parkway, providing direct access to Route 234 via University Blvd., providing alternate access to Route 28 via Vint Hill Rd., and alternate access to I-66 via Heathcote Blvd.

 

 

Railways

CSX and Norfolk Southern Railway each provide rail freight service through Prince William County. With service to all Virginia port terminals, both commercial and industrial products and materials can be transported to and from domestic and international destinations.

Amtrak has stations in Woodbridge, Quantico, and Manassas, and serves more than 500 stations in 45 states, with daily service to Washington, DC.

VRE has two commuter train lines providing weekday service to Washington, DC. The Manassas line runs from Manassas Airport and has three stops in the western Prince William area. The Fredericksburg line runs from Fredericksburg, VA and has three stops in the eastern Prince William area.

The Potomac Rappahanock Transportation Commission (PRTC) provides direct access to the DC metrorail system.

Port of Virginia

The Virginia Port Authority is an agency of the Commonwealth of Virginia, reporting to the Secretary of Transportation.The agency owns four general cargo terminals-Norfolk International Terminals, Portsmouth Marine Terminal, Newport News Marine Terminal, and the Virginia Inland Port in Front Royal-which are operated by its affiliate, Virginia International Terminals, Inc. Container storage, covered and dry storage, and cold storage is available at various terminals with convenient rail access.

Port of Baltimore

The Port of Baltimore offers international shipping capabilities at its six terminals at Dundalk, North Locust Point, Seagirt, and the Intermodal Container Transfer Facility. Container service, roll-off service and warehouse space is available.

Telecommunications

Telecommunications services, including cable television, local and long distance phone service, and Internet service is licensed and regulated locally by Prince William County. The county has non-exclusive customer service agreements with Verizon, Comcast, and Gatehouse Networks, requiring these providers to meet certain customer service standards.
